Evento finale: Oceanography Unveiled Seminars – June 17-18, Trieste

This is a friendly reminder about the final seminar in the Oceanography Unveiled series, which will take place on 17-18 June. We are very pleased and excited to welcome our outstanding invited speakers, Ric Williams and Raffaele Ferrari.

This special closing event will focus on the theme: “Role of the Atmosphere and Ocean in the Climate System.”

Seminar Program:

17 June

  • Module 1a: Climate response to the uptake of anthropogenic carbon and heat by the ocean – time scales and the role of the Southern Ocean – Ric Williams
  • Module 1b: The structure and circulation of the deep ocean – Raffaele Ferrari

18 June

  • Module 1a: New observations and insights about deep  ocean mixing – Raffaele Ferrari
  • Module 1b: The role of ocean circulation and extreme weather events in driving ocean heat and carbon uptake responses – Ric Williams

The event will be held at  Kastler Lecture Hall – Adriatico Guesthouse Via Grignano, 9, 34151 Trieste

As this is a special closing event featuring two invited speakers, the format will be slightly different from previous seminars. On the first day, we will begin at 14:30 with a 90-minute lecture, followed by a coffee break around 16:00. The second lecture will start at 16:30 and run until 18:00, after which we will enjoy an aperitif on the beautiful terrace of the Adriatico Guesthouse.

On the second day, activities will start at 10:00 with a lecture running until 11:30, followed by a short coffee break. The final lecture will take place from 12:00 to 13:30, after which the seminar will conclude.

Since the event will be hosted in the Adriatico Guesthouse, it is necessary to complete the form below. You will also be required to upload a personal photo on the form, as this is necessary to access the buildings where the seminars take place. On both days, it will be possible to use the internal cafeteria for lunch at your own expense, also there are few rooms available in the Guesthouse Adriatico.
