Special Issue Applied Sciences (MDPI) “New Insights Into Marine Geology” – Editor: Dott.ssa Gemma Aiello (CNR ISMAR Sezione Secondaria di Napoli)

Special Issue- call for papers – Deadline 20 September 2023

This Special Issue “New Insights Into Marine Geology”, covers a broad spectrum of topics on the subject of the marine geology, inviting authors to publish marine geological studies from both Mediterranean and extra-Mediterranean areas. In particular, I invite seismo-stratigraphic studies, collecting new research in the field of seismic and sequence stratigraphy in coastal and marine environments. I also welcome tephrostratigraphic studies performed on gravity and piston cores, aimed at individuating volcanic stratigraphic markers in marine successions. Sedimentologic and stratigraphic studies on Quaternary marine deposits of delta, shelf and slope environs fit well with the proposed issues. Marine geological mapping and IODP expedition results will also be suitable for this volume. The examination of marine hazards in coastal and marine sectors will result as a further elaboration of the methods proposed in this Special Issue. Review papers, including full reviews of specific topics in the field of marine geology, are also suitable for this Special Issue, including paleontological, biostratigraphic and palaeoecological studies.
