Abstract:
This report contains the technical account of the marine geology campaign named “CHART‐2025”, carried out between December 1st and December 23rd, 2025, in the northern Tyrrhenian Sea.
During the CHART‐25 expedition, morpho‐bathymetric data, reflection seismic profiles, sediment samples (collected using a gravity corer and grab sampler), and CTD measurements were acquired. The objective of the project is the cartographic characterization of depositional bodies and morphological/tectonic features to reconstruct the geological and morphological setting of the continental margin and its Plio‐Quaternary evolution.
Using the instrumentation on board the research vessel N/O Gaia Blu, it was possible to obtain high‐resolution seismic profiles, morpho‐bathymetric and backscatter maps, as well as reflection seismic profiles.
In addition, 17 gravity cores were collected (for a total of 48,93 m of samples) and 10 grab samples, which will allow the reconstruction of the lithology of seafloor sediments as well as the Holocene stratigraphic succession.
