“Fratelli Bandiera” Pier
Located in a hut on the outer side of the Molo (Quay) Fratelli Bandiera at the Trieste harbor, the Fratelli Bandiera meteorological-marine station has been operational since 1986, with continuous data collection starting in 1999. Recent infrastructure upgrades have enhanced the station’s measurement capabilities, which include:
Meteorological parameters: Air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and direction at a 10-meter height.
Marine parameters: Sea temperature at depths of 0.4, 2, and 6 meters.
The data are archived by ISMAR in Trieste, contributing to the European Danubius Infrastructure. A long-term time series of sea temperature, compiled with data from various harbor sites, is available on SEANOE. Additionally, the station hosts instruments managed by the Civil Protection of Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia.
