Safe Sea in the Gulf of Salerno: a day dedicated to research infrastructure for maritime safety and environmental protection
On June 23, 2025, in the picturesque setting of the Stazione Marittima in Salerno, a day will be dedicated to marine monitoring and coastal safety, and to the presentation of the new infrastructure installed in Battipaglia and Anacapri, which enhances real-time monitoring of surface marine currents in the Gulf of Salerno, thanks to the ITINERIS (Innovative Technologies for Integrated Environmental Monitoring and Intelligence at Sea) project.
The event will include an institutional opening session, followed by technical-scientific presentations and an open discussion between researchers, port authorities, maritime operators, local authorities, and businesses. The applications of HF radar in navigation safety, emergency management, support for the Blue Economy, and environmental protection will be discussed.
The new radars will be presented as an integral part of the European EuroGOOS (https://www.hfrnode.eu) and JERICO (https://www.jerico-ri.eu), contributing to the strengthening of international scientific cooperation.
