The Institute of Marine Science (ISMAR) of the National Research Council (CNR) with the collaboration and sponsorships of SGI, SIMP, SPI and IODP-Italy is organizing a School of Marine Geology entitled “Deep Sea Frontiers” to be held in Bologna at the CNR Research Area from Jan. 27-31, 2025.
The School offers an advanced exploration of geological processes in the deep ocean, encompassing the entire life cycle of the oceanic lithosphere. Topics include in-depth examination of abyssal regions, exploration of ocean ridges, sediment analysis, and study of marine bio-geology in extreme environments, as well as the use of advanced exploration technologies.
Understanding the interactions between the oceans and lithosphere is crucial to understanding Earth’s geology, climate, and ecosystems. Scientific research continues to unravel the complexities of these interconnected processes and their implications for the health and stability of the planet. The course aims to actively engage PhD students and young researchers, expanding their design skills in the face of “Deep Sea” challenges.
