Programme: European Space Agency
Project title: ESA Climate-Space – Ocean Surface Heat Flux
Acronym: ESA-OSHF
Duration: 01/07 2025 – 30/06/2028
Project budget: € 1.500.000,00
ISMAR budget: € 279.968,00
Web site: n.a.
Summary:
The objective of this project is to create a new Climate Data Record (CDR) for total Ocean Surface Heat Flux (OSHF), taking a distinct new approach that addresses the observational gaps and limitations of existing OSHF products. The innovative OSHF CDR will better quantify spatio-temporal variability in total OSHF across the global oceans towards GCOS requirements, and complement existing products created by different means, as explained below.
The role of CNR-ISMAR is to lead the evaluation to understand if the new derived satellite-based ocean surface heat flux can be used in climate studies and applications.
